Bikstok hardly needs an introduction, and the group can rightfully be called the nation’s uncrowned kings of dancehall. This year marks the 20th anniversary of their groundbreaking debut album Over Stok og Sten, which spawned massive hits like “Fabrik,” “Cigar,” and “DK’s Koner,” and played a key role in igniting the Danish dancehall scene.
Naturally, the 20th anniversary of this milestone in Danish music history deserves to be celebrated — and Bikstok will do just that when they take over Poolen this October. The celebration kicks off in May with three sold-out shows at VEGA, but culminates in a grand autumn party at Poolen — the crowning jewel of the festivities.
Behind Bikstok are the masters of flow and lyrics: Pharfar, Eagger, and Blæs Bukki — each of them icons in Danish music, known for their roles in acts like Malk de Koijn, EaggerStunn, and Balstyrko, among many others. Together in Bikstok, they managed with their debut Over Stok og Sten to introduce a brilliant mix of Danish-language reggae, dancehall, and hip hop to the entire country. It was hard-hitting and packed with Jamaican-inspired vibes, while giving the Danish language a warm and humorous twist.
